Soca legend Ronnie McIntosh joins Joel in the kitchen to help make these flavorful meatballs.

Ingredients

MEATBALLS

1 lb ground beef

2 tbsp minced ginger

3 garlic cloves, minced

2 fresh green seasoning

1 tbsp chilli garlic sauce

2 tbsp dark soy sauce

Few dashes Worcestershire sauce

2 tbsp oyster sauce

Pinch salt and black pepper

½ cup panko breadcrumbs

1 egg

Cooking spray

ASIAN BBQ SAUCE

¾ cup ketchup

2 tbsp sesame seed oil

2 tsp light soy sauce

2 tsp oyster sauce

2 tbsp hoisin sauce

1 tsp pepper sauce

½ small onion, diced

Directions

  1. Place the meat in a large bowl. Add the remaining ingredients to the meat except the cooking spray. Mix just enough to incorporate.
  2. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment/wax paper and lightly spray with cooking spray.
  3. Form even sized meatballs from the mixture and place on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 12 – 15 minutes depending on the size of the balls.
  4. Make the sauce. Heat the sesame oil in a saucepan. Add the onions and let cook just until tender. Add the remaining ingredients and let simmer for 5 – 7 minutes. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  5. Add the cooked meatballs to the sauce and stir gently to coat the meatballs with the sauce or serve the sauce on the side to dip. Serve warm or room temperature.
