ONE PUNCH COCKTAIL – JUSTIN BALLANTYNE

Justin Ballantyne, winner of the local leg of the International Mount Gay Cocktail Competition 2022, shares a version of his winning cocktail for guests Afiya and Baidawi.

Ingredients

Ingredients: 

1 oz cucumber shrub, (see below)

1 oz lemon juice 

0.5 oz ginger syrup 

2 oz Mount gay black barrel 

Glassware: sherry or rocks 

Ice: optional 

For the Cucumber shrub: 

1/2cup white wine vinegar 

1/2cup apple cider vinegar 

1tsp kosher salt 

1/4cup sugar 

2-3 cucumbers

Directions

  1. Method: shaken and smoke(optional). The smoke is a hickory wood chip smoke which is optional.
  2. For the cucumber shrub: blend the cucumber and squeeze out the juice from it, then add the other ingredients to the juice stirring for the salt and sugar to dissolve. Let set in the refrigerator for at least 30mins.
